My old church's stance is that believers receive unmerited favor, and even when they fail, they will experience good.
This definition of God's goodness is what they say leads a person to repentance.
At the same time, they teach that people will still suffer the natural consequences of their actions. As they put it: if you touch a hot stove, you get burned.
So a believer can never truly know when the "natural laws" will take effect versus when unmerited favor will step in.
In 2023, God told me this Bible verse is very true indeed: Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap. (Galatians 6:7 KJV)
And He revealed just how this law is in effect in my life.
Years ago, while we were both still at my old church, a much older believer told me that God said I was supposed to go to Bible school. I rejected her word and accused her of being "controlling."
Then in 2023, shortly after God revealed Galatians 6:7 to me, I was given a word from Him for a younger brother in Christ. He rejected the word and accused me of the exact same thing—being "controlling."
My word did come from God, as the exact consequences prophesied did come to pass. And God revealed to me that the word from that sister to go to Bible school was indeed from Him.
Stay on course in Jesus Christ, amen?
