Perfect Day, Saints!
God gave me an intense desire to search out the word 'reprobate' as used in the Bible.
My old hyper-grace church teaches that a believer can never lose their security or face the judgment of Hell because Christ absorbed all judgment.
However, I align myself with Bondservant John Anosike. God taught me the same message that links hyper-grace to hearts hardened by sin due to the consistent rejection of the Holy Spirit. Because of this, God said a Christian can be damned to Hell.
Much of the confusion in hyper-grace churches stems from failing to see the difference between imputed righteousness and walking in righteousness.
My old church looks only at the legal gift—believing that because righteousness is imputed to your spirit, your actions don't affect your standing.
But Bondservant John Anosike brings the crucial correction: while imputed righteousness is a legal gift given at salvation, walking in righteousness is an active, daily responsibility.
The hyper-grace message treats the gift as a license to bypass personal holiness, whereas Bondservant John Anosike teaches that the gift is a weapon meant to destroy sin in your life.
When I heard it spoken by Bondservant John Anosike, I was convicted. It is the message God has been telling me all along, and I hear it strung in proper sentences through his words.
Bondservant John Anosike warns that relying on a hyper-grace message creates a false sense of safety. He teaches that if a Christian continually overrides the conviction of the Holy Spirit because they believe they are automatically forgiven, their heart will eventually harden. This trajectory can lead to a reprobate mind, where the believer stops caring about God entirely, thus forfeiting their salvation.
Ultimately, as Bondservant John Anosike defines it, a reprobate mind is "a mind that has rejected God so persistently that it becomes morally corrupt and spiritually insensitive."
