Perfect Day, Saints!
Some of the views atheists express against the faith can be troubling.
I was especially bothered by one young man who had enrolled in theological school at Oxford, but dropped out after becoming an atheist.
However, earlier this year, I watched him debate an elderly believer on YouTube. The older man provided excellent answers to the very questions that had caused the young man to abandon God.
I noticed that as soon as the elderly man answered, the young man refused to acknowledge or counter the point. Instead, he simply switched to a different question.
Witnessing this debate style actually strengthened my faith in a genuine way. It also made me see more clearly why some choose to abandon or reject the faith.
Many churches operate as their own echo chambers. Because of this, I believe it would be healthy for churches to engage in debates or hold open-mic sessions once in a while.
