Perfect Day, Saints!
The spiritual leader of my former church used to say that he wasn't like other ministers who constantly use the name of God by claiming, "God said this," or "God said that." He argued that doing so prevents people from disagreeing with the speaker.
However, that mindset gives rise to an interesting dilemma. When he preached from the pulpit, it was difficult to discern which parts were his own opinion, which came directly from God, which were borrowed from another minister, and which came from the world.
Because he was speaking from the pulpit, most well-meaning Christians and pure-hearted people would simply assume it was 100% from God.
In contrast, the Apostle Paul, for example, made it very clear in his letters when he was sharing his own opinion versus when he was speaking a direct command from God.
Even my husband tells me to clarify what comes from me and what comes from God, so that when he makes a decision, he is sufficiently warned, and so that if it contradicts the Bible or fails to come to pass, he can call me a false prophet to my face.
